Welcome to the diverse and endlessly fascinating Mpumalanga Highlands. Situated in the Emakhazeni Region, this is the very heart of Mpumalanga (which, by the way, means ‘place of the rising sun’), and peers over the dramatic edge of the escarpment to the Lowveld below.
The Mpumalanga Highlands Tourism Region comprises the towns of Emakhazeni-Belfast, Enthokozweni-Machadodorp, Emgwenya-Waterval Boven and Emnotweni-Dullstroom. (To avoid confusion during Mpumalanga’s proposed name change process, we’ll refer to the proposed new name of towns hyphenated with its previous name.)
